Have you ever gone away for the weekend with just your Girlfriends? Have you gone on a vacation with just your girlfriends? If you have not, then what are you waiting for? I was a member of a bowling team for over 10 years. Going to the National Bowling Tournament helped to jump start my love of traveling. Even though we no longer bowl together because our small 6 lane alley closed down :(, we still go on vacation together!
Nashville, TN— There are so many things to do and see in Nashville there is something for everyone. While in Nashville make sure to the typical things such as tour the Ryman, take in a show at the Grand Ole Opry, visit Broadway St sit in a bar and listen to live music, visit the Country Music Hall of Fame. Now the other side of Nashville is the history. This is the part that surprisingly was the most intriguing to me. We visited The Belle Meade Plantation and the historic Carnton Plantation. It was fascinating to learn about the historical importance of these two locations. Last but not least go to the Fontanel Mansion. The home itself is beautiful and the live performance at the end of the tour was amazing. And be sure to stop at the winery or distillery once you leave the mansion.
Ashville, NC– The Biltmore is an exquisite architectural masterpiece. Touring the home is well worth your time. Added to the property is a Winery. Access to the Antler Hill Village and Winery is included in your daytime admission to the Biltmore. They offer complimentary wine tasting and have an indoor/outdoor wine bar. The views around Ashville are stunning. Have you ever bellyaked? I hadn’t heard of it either. It’s like being on a surf board and using your arms to guide you around. Next you need to whitewater raft and view the waterfalls!
New York City– The city that never sleeps. Ok so being from a small town with less than 1500 venturing here seemed a bit overwhelming. However, I found this place to be easily navigated and the subways weren’t hard to figure out. There are too many amazing places to see in NYC, but a few of my favorites included: The Statue of Liberty, 911 Museum, Central Park, American Museum of Natural History, and of course Times Square. We used one of those hop on hop off bus tours and it was fantastic. Other things you must do: Go to a Broadway Show and eat New York Food. We found some places that were featured on a TV show and went to try them out. AMAZING!! Next those little food places on the corner that only seat like 20 people. Yeah definitely go in. We had breakfast at one of these everyday! Cheesecake: Go to Junior’s! Bagel: Kossar’s! Deli Sandwich: John’s Deli! And we saw the Lion King (so amazing)!
Niagara Falls Canadian Side– Let me just say Border check points are so much fun with a group of women and a cute security guy! Secondly to really appreciate the Falls I think you should see it from the Canadian side. You can get much closer and the views are incredible. Stay at the Embassy Suites by Hilton. Always ask to get a room with a view of the falls. Next you want to eat at the Keg. OMG this place has amazing food. Save room for dessert. Share a piece of Billy Miner Pie! Next venture out of the city to the many wineries. I discovered I love Ice Wine. It’s very very sweet! Some of our favorite places included the Pellar Estates, Reif Estate Winery, and Two Sisters Vineyards.
Walt Disney World– Yep go without your kids!! Can you imagine going to the happiest place on earth and only having to take care of yourself?!?! This way you can do the more adult things that Disney has to offer! You can try all the restaurants that don’t offer a hot dog and fries. You can do Epcot drink or eat around the world. There are 11 different countries you can try. Spa day, need I say more? You should do a behind the scene tour and take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours when there are less kids to get on the rides quicker. However if there are rides that you definitely want to go on please use the Fast Pass! Stay at the Grand Floridian. It’s one of the more luxury resorts at Disney World. And Uncle Jesse sang here! 🙂
As you can see, the opportunities are endless when traveling with your friends. Plus all the funny stories and memories created will last a lifetime. Safe Travels and please book a girlfriend getaway!
